CARING FOR YOUR WOOD FURNITURE
Furniture Care for Wood

Always dust with a cloth moistened with polish. Polish cushions the cloth, eliminating the scratching that occurs with dry dusting. Dust will scratch furniture if not removed quickly. Use a soft, clean cloth that won’t scratch the surface. Avoid coarse or scratchy materials or fabrics.

Avoid using soap and water on furniture. Water can penetrate and damage the finish by raising the grain on the wood.

AVOID PLACING FURNITURE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT
Ultraviolet rays can damage wood finishes. Use sun screening drapes and blinds during intense sunlight hours.

AVOID PLACING NEAR HEAT SOURCES
Repeated changes in temperature damage furniture and heating by vents or radiators can cause extreme drying of the wood.

PROTECT FROM LIQUIDS
Liquid spills damage furniture if not removed promptly. Use coasters under beverages and saucers under cups and flowerpots. If a spill occurs, immediately blot it gently with a soft dry cloth, without rubbing the surface.

PROTECT FROM HEAT
Head creates a chemical change in furniture finishes, which can result in white spots. Use protective mats under hot dishes, utensils, and cooking appliances.

USE THE SAME TYPE OF POLISH
Once you begin using one variety of polish, it is best to stay with it so there is no unexpected chemical mixing on the wood surfaces.

ALWAYS USE A FINE FURNITURE POLISH
Polish protects surfaces from dry cloth scratching. Also, use a clean cloth since a dirty cloth collects dirt and dust that can scratch the surfaces. Spray polish evenly and sparingly. Wipe in a circular motion to loosen old polish. Buff until completely dry for a beautiful shine and smudge free finish. For detailed wood trim, spray the polish on the cloth before dusting.

USE NON-PLASTIC MATS OR PADS TO PROTECT THE TABLETOP
Plastic or rubber materials can cause an undesirable reaction with the finish, therefore avoid plastic tablecloths, placemats, and table top accessories.

CARING FOR YOUR UPHOLSTERY
Furniture Care for Upholstery

DON’T PLACE YOUR FURNITURE TOO CLOSE TO WINDOWS, HEATERS OR VENTS
If your furniture is located near a window, it’s best to use window treatments to avoid fading. Heating and air outlets will also fade fabrics and leather, as well as damage the fibers over an extended period of time.

ROTATE AND FLUFF SEAT AND BACK CUSHIONS REGULARLY
This should be done every 3 – 6 months to prevent the cushion core from wearing prematurely. In addition, it will preserve the fabric color and control welt slippage.

FABRIC: NEVER TAKE THE CUSHION COVER OFF TO CLEAN
To clean a spill, immediately blot (without rubbing) with a dry, absorbent white cloth. Only use a professional furniture cleaning service when an overall cleaning is needed.

LEATHER: CLEAN WITH A SOFT, DAMP CLOTH
After wiping clean, gently rub with a soft dry cloth to restore the finish. Never use polishes, oils, ammonia, cleaning fluids, solvents or detergents to clean leather upholstery. Professional cleaning is recommended.
