Small Chairs & Other Ideas for Seating for Small Spaces

There are chairs, and then there are CHAIRS. Ever notice how the nicest accent chairs tend to occupy the biggest rooms? The more open space, the more exotic the chair, it seems.

But, why should the big rooms have all the fun? There is absolutely no reason why smaller spaces can't be furnished with nice things.

If you're looking for great chairs for small spaces, you've come to the right place. Bassett Furniture has exactly what you need to create cozy seating areas anywhere in your home.

How to Create Seating for Small Spaces

Don't get us wrong, we don't have anything against larger rooms. After all, bigger spaces often function better when they're divided into several well-defined areas set up to accommodate different purposes.

So, where and how can you create those intimate little places in your home? Here are a few ideas to consider.

Conversation Oasis in Living Room

Usually, the living room is dominated by a grande sofa or a large sectional, typically set in front of a TV. That's a great set up for watching the big game with friends or a movie with the family.

But, what if you want to have a quiet conversation away from the crowd?

One solution is to set up a conversation oasis in a corner away from the big screen. A couple of small recliner chairs, floor lamp and a small coffee or end table will do the trick.

Reading Nook

If you're a fan of disappearing into a great book or like to peruse your collection of magazines quietly, you'll also want to have some separation from the TV/entertainment area. For the literary inclined, a nice reading nook by an oversized bay window is heaven.

All you need is a comfy accent chair and a side table to hold you hot cup of tea.

Sitting Area in Bedroom

Small bedrooms are more versatile than you might think. You don't need a whole lot of space to add a place for you to sit or lay our your outfit options the night before.

All it takes is a small upholstered bench by the foot of the bed. Voila, there's your small bedroom sitting area.

Breakfast Nook

A large dining room table isn't needed for every meal. A breakfast nook is more the way to go for most of us when it comes to the first meal of the day. Unless you're having your butler serving it, of course. Then, the dining room is definitely the right move.

If you don't have live-in help, however, a couple of small chairs and a small kitchen table, or some bar stools by the kitchen island can make a great breakfast nook.

Break-out Area in Home Office

Sometimes it's nice to have a separate, dedicated space for brainstorming. It can be hard to be original when you're stuck behind the same old desk. A change of scenery can often stimulate the creative juices.

Plus, when you collaborate with another person, your partner is sure to appreciate an equal power dynamic.

A small, neat, break-out space – featuring a couple of simple accent chairs and small table – can help with both these goals.
