Fariha and her husband moved to Houston about 10 years ago from Karachi, Pakistan. She loves Houston and how the city has embraced her family.

“Our family room is the heart of our home and is truly where we all gather. The furniture we had in there felt small for the scale of the room and we needed more seating that still looked modern.”

Adding natural elements like rattan and wicker warm up modern furniture and give it a boho chic vibe. For Fariha, the natural materials remind her of her native Pakistan. Add textural pillows in geometric or tribal patterns on sofas and chairs and a classic Persian-style rug.

Fariha created an extra long sofa from three sections of Bassett’s modular Beckham sectional options, so there’s plenty of room to stretch out and still leave seating for others. To keep it easy care and family friendly, she covered it in a performance linen-look fabric. The Fiore Club Chair and a distressed Aurora area rug pull the old and new together. A natural coffee table she already loved blends perfectly with Fiore’s rattan and the darker linen grey in the rug anchors the lighter fabrics.

- Home for me is where my family is - where I find comfort and a sense of belonging. It is where I want to be at the end of a long day.

DINING EXPERIENCE

One of my favorite places to grab a quick bite is Abu Omar, a local food truck that seriously has the best Shawarmas in town. They have plenty of locations but here’s a tip: ask for extra garlic sauce on the side to dip your fries in!

THE LIFE OF PIE

My favorite is the French Silk pie but if you ask my husband he’d say the Coconut Cream pie hands down.

INDULGENCE

Fat Cat creamery is the place to go to if you’re looking for the creamiest ice-cream in Houston. You can’t go wrong with anything they have but Salted Caramel has to be one of my favorites!

GREAT OUTDOORS

Josey Lake Park is where we take our dinner every Sunday. It’s just so beautiful with a playground and lots of boardwalks and picnic areas.
