Jordan has a love of interior design but also writes about fashion and beauty in her blog, "House Becomes Home." She wanted to redo an area where the family comes together, plays games, watches TV, and where they can gather to enjoy the company of friends and loved ones.

“When planning out a room it is important to start with the larger pieces and work your way down. Often times I will start with the sofa and then choose my supporting pieces, as I call them, such as, accent chairs, coffee table, rug and decor accessories.”

Bassett and Jordan worked together to redo the sitting area of her great room. It’s a pivot point between the kitchen and dining area so it gets lots of use. Furniture that was durable and functional was just as important as creating a style that invites you to gather.

Jordan selected the new Oliver sofa for its clean lines, bench seat, and seating comfort. She selected a Performance linen look in an oatmeal color. Performance fabrics are ideal for durability and cleanability. Oliver is flanked by a pair of Myles chairs in a Veneto Cognac Leather and an optional swivel base. She chose the Tahiti drum table because she notes that a round cocktail table is easier to walk around in a smaller space. The Florentine wool and viscose rug anchors the neutrals of the sofa and cocktail table and provides a comfy way for kids and pooch to play and cuddle.

WHERE DO YOU GO FOR DESIGN HELP WHEN STARTING A PROJECT?

I usually have a good idea of what I want. Once I find a key piece, like the Myles chairs, the rest falls into place pretty quickly.
