Upholstered Beds

The ideal bed should not only catch your eye, but complement the overall look of your room. Modern and traditional styles are the most popular for their timeless appeal. Traditional beds evoke warmth and classic elegance and commonly feature rich wood finishes, intricate details, stylized silhouettes and meticulous craftsmanship. Modern beds, on the other hand, boast clean, minimalist lines, low profiles and sleek contemporary finishes. Of course, these aren’t the only two styles there are. Many Basset beds offer a transitional character that complements a wide range of interior designs, from coastal and cottage to rustic and casual.

The term luxury encompasses high-quality craftsmanship and a refined, opulent sensibility. Think plush velvet fabrics, hand-carved motifs and tufting. At Bassett, every bed is crafted to the highest standards of fine design. Whether you find comfort in the stately sensibility of old-world classicism or the sleek understated elegance of Danish modern design, you’ll find an exceptional range of exquisitely crafted beds in a bevy of custom options to create your very own luxury bed.

There are various types of beds to suit every need, from space-saving options to luxurious designs. Whether you’re looking for a modern platform or a functional storage bed, Bassett has the ideal piece to transform your bedroom.

Wood Beds:

Classic and timeless, wood beds bring warmth and texture to the bedroom. The BenchMade Collection is crafted from beautiful strong hardwoods - like Appalachian maple, white oak and elm. Basset wood panel beds exude the unparalleled beauty of fine workmanship. From elegant modern beds to rustic live-edge wood designs, you’ll discover plenty of options to complement your style.

Upholstered Beds:

Combining comfort and fashion, upholstered beds feature padded headboards and side rails. Handtailored in high-performance fabrics or premium leather, these designer beds bring a chic, yet cozy feel to your bedroom. Consider Bassett’s Paris Tufted Upholstered Bed with decorative wings and diamond tufting to create a high-glamour look or the Dublin Leather Upholstered Bed for a more low-key luxurious vibe.

Storage Beds:

Perfect for maximizing space, storage beds feature built-in drawers to keep your room organized without sacrificing style. Available in both upholstered and wood panel styles, Bassett storage beds are crafted with seamless lines and functionality to keep your belongings discreetly tucked away.

Platform Beds:

Boasting a sleek, low profile, platform beds eliminate the need for a box spring, offering a modern aesthetic and efficient use of space. Choose an upholstered platform bed with plush pillow-style headboard in a velvety performance fabric to balance the cool, smooth textures of wood, metal and glass bedroom decor.

Custom Beds:

Made to order, these designer beds give you the freedom and flexibility to control every detail. All Bassett beds can be customized in your choice of fabrics, leathers, finishes and trims to personalize your style. For a full bespoke experience, explore the Custom Upholstered Beds Collection, where you can choose from a countless array of fabrics or leathers, including your own, as well as decorative details.

The size of your bed plays a significant role in both the functionality and style of your bedroom. When choosing a custom upholstered bed, make sure it fits your room, allowing at least two to three feet of space around all sides to comfortably move around and get in and out of your bed.

Twin Beds:

A standard twin bed is 38-inches wide by 75-inches long, making them a favorite for smaller bedrooms or children’s spaces.

Full Beds:

At 54-inches wide, these beds are slightly larger than twin beds - making them ideal for smaller main bedrooms and guest rooms.

Queen Beds:

The most popular choice, queen beds offer ample space for couples to enjoy a comfortable night’s sleep while fitting into most bedrooms. A standard queen bed measures 60-inches wide by 80-inches long. Read our guide on queen bed sizes to learn more.

King Beds:

A standard king bed is 76-inches wide by 84-inches long. Best for spacious primary bedrooms and suites, king beds offer optimal comfort and roominess for two (plus, any pets you may have to cozy up with!).

California King Beds:

Measuring at 72-inches wide by 84-inches long, the California King is narrower but longer than a standard king bed, making it ideal for sleep partners who are taller and need the extra length but don’t have the space for a wider bed. Read our guide on King and California King bed sizes to learn more.
