Loveseats and Small Sofas

A loveseat and small couch are two names that mean the same thing. A loveseat is essentially a small sofa, and is constructed with a two-cushion seat versus the three that characterize standard sofas. A loveseat is also known as a settee and apartment sofa. At Bassett, you’ll find them referred to as loveseats, small sofas and studio sofas. Each one is crafted for outstanding comfort and sure to become known as one of the best seats in your house.

No–your sofa and loveseat do not need to match exactly. While this is a simple, common approach for creating symmetry and balance, it is not a hard and fast rule. When coordinating different small sofas and loveseats, it's all about creating a cohesive look. You can mix and match fabrics to complement each other, like pairing a solid-color sofa with a loveseat in a contrasting shade or even a bold print, or, combine a luxurious leather sofa with a plush fabric loveseat for a rich, unexpected look. Whichever approach you take, just make sure the overall styles of your sofa and loveseat are consistent with each other–a modern track arm loveseat pairs best with a modern track arm sofa. Explore Bassett’s True Custom™ Collection to easily create a pairing that’s uniquely yours. With hundreds of designer fabrics, leathers and trim options to choose from, you’ll have control over almost every detail.

The average size of a loveseat ranges from 45- to 64-inches long. The average seat height is 20-inches high. The depth can vary depending on the silhouette and cushions. At Bassett you’ll also find larger loveseats called studio sofas. At 71- to 78-inches long, these sofa loveseats offer more design possibilities for large, open living spaces, as well as home bars and media rooms.
