Reclining Chairs

Power Recliners

Effortless and precise, these reclining chairs allow you to smoothly adjust your position with just the touch of a switch. There are many conveniences that come with a power reclining chair. Unlike manual reclining chairs, which typically have preset positions, power recliners can offer infinite adjustability so you can find your perfect relaxation position. Bassett Magnificent Motion chair recliners also offer adjustable headrests that can gently tilt forward and be adjusted to cradle your neck and head as desired to further personalize your comfort level. On the controls, we also include a USB port or you can also choose the Bluetooth enabled option to elevate your luxury. Power reclining chairs require a wall outlet to operate but you can opt for a rechargeable battery pack to eliminate the cords and place your reclining armchair anywhere in the room.

Manual Push-Back Recliners

This option brings simple luxury to your lounging spaces, reclining gently as you lean back. Bassett manual push-back recliners typically offer two or three positions, including upright seated, partial recline with elevated legs for reading and watching television, and full recline, ideal for napping and head-to-toe relaxation. While these classic reclining seats don’t have the endless adjustability of a power recliner, you’ll find a greater variety of sleek, stylish silhouettes. If you’re looking for exceptional comfort with elegance and flair, opt for our Maris push-back reclining chair. With an open, sculptural frame, crafted from Italian-imported beechwood, metal ferrules and a tall tight back, it boasts a tailored, modern look that invites you to take a seat and unwind. Dress it in your choice of fabrics and leathers, Maris will ease right into your room’s design scheme.

Zero-Gravity Recliners

Zero-gravity recliners offer the ultimate relaxation experience with added health benefits that can be especially useful for people with back pain and tension. Inspired by NASA’s “neutral-body position” astronauts assume in space, zero-gravity recliners are designed to support the natural curve of your spine and distribute your bodyweight evenly, minimizing pressure on your back and joints. The footrest is also elevated above your heart, improving blood circulation. If that sounds divine - you’re right! Being cradled in a zero-gravity recliner is as comforting as it sounds. The ergonomic design puts your body in the optimal position for deep relaxation, reducing stress and muscle tension, improving breathing, reducing pain and swelling, and promoting better sleep. It's also known to have other potential benefits for people with certain medical conditions, such as acid reflux. Whether you experience back pain or just want to ease your body and mind after a long day (or week!), a zero-gravity recliner provides therapeutic benefits that can positively impact your overall well-being. Bassett’s Caswell zero-gravity reclining chair offers luxurious comfort and style akin to an upscale wellness retreat, including cushioned track arms, an adjustable headrest and USB port so you’ll never need to leave your seat.

Wall-Hugger Recliners

Excellent for compact spaces, wall-hugger recliners can be placed close to the wall. Rather than tilting back, this type of reclining chair slides forward as it reclines, moving you into full relaxation mode without overpowering your room. Bassett Magnificent Motion power reclining chairs are custom-engineered with an ingenious frame-within-frame construction that delivers the laid-back luxury while keeping its tailored, stationary silhouette. Available in elegant sloped to panel and roll arm designs, Magnificent Motion collection of recliner chairs offer a timeless style that complements your room with modern comforts, including limitless reclining positions, a strain-free headrest and Bluetooth-enabled power option. Customizable in your choice of fabrics and leather, cushion comfort, back height and finishes, a Magnificent Motion recliner chair will easily become the best seat in the house.

Lift Recliners

Lift recliners are a practical choice for those seeking extra support getting out of their chair. With just the touch of a button, these recliners smoothly tilt forward as you rise, helping you move from seated to standing position with minimal effort. Lift recliners are especially beneficial for those with limited mobility due to pain or muscle weakness, or who experience difficulty with balance and stability. Our Hudson Lift Chair offers a blend of luxury and security, with a healthcare-compliant mechanism, plush panel back, custom leather options, and adjustable zero-gravity comfort.

Swivel Recliners

Designed with a wide rotating base, swivel recliner chairs effortlessly spin to change your view and activities, making them ideal for living rooms, home theaters, bedrooms and nurseries. With a full range of adjustable positions, Basset’s Hudson Leather and Harris swivel reclining chairs are wonderfully versatile and sophisticated. They can be placed in the center of a room or complement an open floor plan, providing a cozy seating area that can quickly shift from conversations to relaxation. If you’re looking to optimize your space and comfort level, a swivel recliner is an excellent choice.

When choosing a recliner, focus on comfort, functionality, and style to find one that fits seamlessly into your life. First, consider how you’ll use it: will it be your go-to spot for reading, watching television, napping or unwinding after a long day. If you’re looking for luxurious comfort and conveniences, options like zero-gravity positioning, adjustable headrests and Bluetooth can make a big difference. Consider the differences between manual push-back and power recliners. Push-back recliners offer a simple straightforward experience and sleek profile that might be just right for your reading nook, while a power reclining chair offers a wider range of motion and amenities that your living or media room demand. Whichever type of chair and features you go with, be sure its style complements your existing furniture and decor. Basset offers traditional and modern styles in your choice of fabrics, leather, and cushion comforts, so you can bring home a recliner that gives you the comfort you dream of in a look that feels right at home.

Recliner chairs come in a variety of sizes and scales, so it's important to choose a style that doesn’t overwhelm your space, or fall short on the support you need. First, measure your available space to make sure that your reclining armchair fits comfortably without obstructing walkways or furniture. Ideally, you’ll want about 12 to 18 inches of clearance behind and in front of the chair when fully reclined, depending on the size and style. If space is limited, opt for a wall-hugger motion chair with a frame-within-frame design, which requires about a one-inch clearance to recline. Also, consider your own height and weight as you’re considering options. If you have a tall frame, you may need a high back chair and longer footrest to ensure the head is fully supported and feet aren’t dangling over the edge. Bassett provides measurements, including minimal clearance needed, for all its reclining chairs you can refer to when exploring options. If you’re undecided or unsure about the size you need, stop by your local Bassett store in your area to test drive our reclining chairs and find one that fits you like a glove.

While all recliners can help to relax your body, zero-gravity recliners are most recognized for alleviating lower back pain. Designed to contour and recline your body into an optimal neutral position, zero-gravity recliner chairs evenly distribute your body weight with your feet raised higher than your heart. This “zero-gravity” position quickly eliminates compression on the spine and increases blood flow to the area, reducing inflammation, tightness and pain. If you experience chronic back pain and tension, a zero-gravity recliner is an excellent choice with a multitude of additional therapeutic benefits. Explore Bassett’s selection of zero-gravity recliner chairs for your living room or bedroom, including our space-saving Magnificent Motion frames with a specially designed coil flex seating support unit that provides an exceptional level of comfort and support.
